About the project

SpendLens

SpendLens is a student-led behavioural economics research project that explores how people make spending decisions through a simulated shopping experience.

Project purpose

The project studies spending behaviour in a more interactive setting than a traditional questionnaire while preserving structured research data behind the experience.

How SpendLens works

Participants receive a simulated starting budget, shop across a controlled set of stores, make normal purchasing and checkout decisions, and receive a simple overview of patterns observed during the experience. SpendLens focuses on how presentation, comparison, timing, convenience and spending context may relate to consumer decision-making.
